Iaconagraphy Press

Iaconagraphy Press is a traditional independent publisher of Pagan and Spiritual non-fiction books, as well as fiction works which reflect those themes, including the works of Connla Freyjason, Suzanne Hersey, and Michelle Iacona. While our focus is primarily on the new Norse Path of Heidhr Craft, we pride ourselves on our authors’ ability to surprise the reader with what they find discussed upon the pages of our books. We are dedicated to producing books which promote social justice and empathy, inspiring our readers to “think outside the box” and challenge the spiritual status quo. We strive to produce books which are as visually appealing, as they are thought-provoking: books which you would be as proud to put on display, as you would be to read. Iaconagraphy Press is a traditional press, and therefore primarily publishes books in print only; our Iaconagraphy Digital expansion launched in Spring 2020.

From Press Owner and Operator, Michelle Iacona:

“The clock struck midnight, but instead of losing a shoe, I became the Fairy Godmother. Iaconagraphy Press is officially my own small press, and an actual imprint. Sure, people have known the name for awhile, but 30 years of training and struggle as a writer, designer, and would-be publisher have taught me a very important thing: none of that counts until the book in question is an actual, physical, printed book. Once you have one of those in Books In Print with your imprint on it, you’ve actually made it; you’ve actually achieved the dream; you’re a real publisher, and it’s an actual small press. On March 22, 2018, that dream was realized, thanks to Connla Freyjason.

I learned two very important things from my mentor Ron Bayes in college:

“Never apologize, never explain.” (Which is actually a quote from Oscar Wilde)

And

“Never lose control of your work.”

He taught me the second one indirectly, as he taught me how the publishing industry actually works, and about things like agents, etc. The more I heard about such practices as book-shredding and royalties, the more I realized I wanted to be so much more than “just a writer”. I wanted the whole enchilada. I didn’t just want to be Cinderella, running down the stairs to beat the clock (which is what most writers become, even successful ones), I wanted to be the Fairy Godmother (the one who makes the magic happen).

Twenty-four years ago, I thought I had my toes in the water of making that dream a reality when I got a job just out of college at a small college press. I learned invaluable lessons during my time there: I learned how the industry works; I learned how to design a book; I learned publishing conventions; I learned how to navigate Adobe. I also learned the PR side of the business: how to promote, promote, promote.

But then I learned something else: I learned that women who are strong, and know how to do not only their own jobs, but everyone else’s jobs as well, scare the crap out of people. People find that threatening. In fact, they find it so threatening that they will do whatever it takes to get rid of such a woman.

As I marched out of that office that day, screaming and in tears, having just practiced my first public delivery of the “f-word”, I made a solemn promise to myself:

‘One day, I don’t know when, and I don’t know how, I will have my OWN press. I will run the show, and nothing and no one will ever be able to take that away from me again.’

It was in the aftermath of that incident and that promise that I met Connla. He has been the brother I never knew I wanted ever since. He has also been my protector, my angel, my guardian, and the one who lights fires under me when no one else can.

Twenty-four years later, I am proud to announce Connla Freyjason’s book, instead of one of my own, as the first book published under the Iaconagraphy Press imprint; more proud, in fact, than I have ever been over anything I’ve ever written. Why? Because his book will be the first one published on my imprint by my small press. And that has been my real dream, all along.

I’m finally the Fairy Godmother, and no longer Cinderella.

Welcome to Iaconagraphy Press.”
